Great Success for Ebony & Ivory Third Western TourMany presenters have told us that the measure of an
artist's success at a concert is the ensuing CD sales afterwards,
and at every stage of their Third Western Tour, Ebony &
Ivory CD sales were booming. Beginning on Thursday, January
10th, Ebony & Ivory performed in Orofino, ID, for the
Clearwater Community Concert Association. Jeanne Hood, who
was instrumental in arranging for this concert, wrote, "Two very special men with tremendous
talent. Would love to have them back! I just loved them! ...a
delightful duo and a wonderful selection of music! Our people
loved them!" The next stop was Redmond, OR, where the Duo was
joined by L.A. musicians Chris Golden on Bass and Gordon
Peeke on Drums, for two Sunday, January 13th concerts for the
Redmond Community Concert Association. Again the praise was
effusive, this time from Jay Jantzen, RCCA Booking Director:
"Ebony and Ivory's visit to Redmond, Oregon
will be remembered as a solid success for Redmond Community Concert
Association. Andrew and Fred are superb musicians, with an
outstanding, varied, and entertaining repertoire. Each set flew by
with a smooth transition from genre to genre. They were ably backed
up by Chris on bass guitar and Gordon on drums. It was a pleasure
working with Ebony and Ivory, as from arrival to departure Andrew
and Fred were fluid, flexible and professional, all the while
displaying positive and pleasant attitudes. And that says a lot as
they performed two concerts for us on that Sunday afternoon and
evening! They sold many CDs which is always a good indicator of how
our audiences feel about the artists." Andrew and Fred proceeded to
Escondido, CA, for a Tuesday, January 15th concert for the Hidden
Valley Community Concert Association, organized by Dennis
Tomlinson, after which they traveled east to Texas. On Saturday,
January 19th, again with Chris and Gordon, Ebony
& Ivory performed in Conroe, TX, for the Montgomery County
Performing Arts Series. Thanks to Marty Taylor for making a
multitude of arrangements. The tour ended with Andrew and
Fred in Hillsboro, TX, with a concert on Thursday, January
24th at Hill College. Phillip Lowe, Music Coordinator at Hill
College was a gracious host, providing a pre-concert dinner and
accommodations in the historical 1895 Tarlton House. As he did last
year, Ivory (Andrew) has prepared a Tour Diary of the
trip which is available online at
http://www.ebonyandivory.ca/Tour-Diary-08.pdf. Next year's
touring plans are already underway for Ebony & Ivory,
whose Rhythm and Ragtime Program appears to have struck a
responsive chord with presenters and their audiences across North
America. Upcoming PerformancesMarch 1, 2008 -
