Ebony & Ivory Featured at League of American Orchestras Conference
Robert Baird of BAM! Baird Artists
Management, agent for Ebony & Ivory, attended the League
of American Orchestras Convention in Nashville, TN from June 20-22,
introducing Such Sweet Thunder: Joplin, Benny Goodman and the
Boys, the new Ebony & Ivory Symphony Program. At the
conference, there was great interest at the booth, and Robert
distributed the Ebony & Ivory CD/DVD and details on three
Ebony & Ivory Symphony Programs: SUCH SWEET THUNDER: Joplin, Benny Goodman and the BoysEbony & Ivory takes the audience on a
musical journey from Ragtime, through "Swing" and ending
with tuneful modern jazz classics. Ragtime classics by Scott Joplin
and his contemporaries are juxtaposed with Andrew Gilpin's
modern Ragtime compositions which capture the flavor of the genre.
The "Swing" portion of the program features Fred
Jacobowitz, a maven of many performing styles, on clarinets and
saxophones, bringing the music of Benny Goodman to life. The program
features the Duo performing on its own, with full orchestral
accompaniment and as a Quartet with the addition of bass and drums.
STAR-SPANGLED! - A Tribute to American SongwritersStar-Spangled! features popular tunes from
the 1920s to the present day. Songs by Cole Porter, George Gershwin,
Leonard Bernstein and many others are included in this patriotic
potpourri. The program features the Duo performing on its own, with
full orchestral accompaniment and as a Quartet with the addition of
bass and drums. CELEBRATE THE JOY: The Magic and Mystery of ChristmasIt's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
as Ebony & Ivory brings its fresh and vibrant dynamic to
the concert stage with an utterly charming Christmas Show. The
Dynamic Duo takes the audience into a Winter Wonderland where
they experience a Sleigh Ride, meet Frosty the Snowman
and even partake of Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire. With
its trademark mix of music from all genres, Ebony & Ivory
sets the mood with classical instrumental favorites from Bach to
Tchaikovsky, stirs the soul with spirituals like Mary's Little
Boy Chile and Go Tell It On The Mountain, and delights
every family member with popular songs from Christmas past and
present. We Need A Little Christmas, and this delightful show
is suitable for "kids from one to ninety-two." So Deck
the Halls and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas as
Ebony & Ivory presents its Merry Christmas to You!

Guest artists include Dave Weckl and Victor Wooten, and musical styles range from jazz to light classical, ragtime to Benny Goodman, with Klezmer and New Age thrown in for good measure!
