Andrew's Gloria PerformancesAndrew's major choral work, Gloria, was
performed in concert by The Wayne Gilpin SINGERS, with
up-and-coming Canadian soprano Sheila Dietrich, at St. John
the Evangelist Anglican Church in Waterloo, Ontario. The concert was
part of the community-based choir's annual concert series.
Andrew's father, Wayne Gilpin, conducted the
performance to an enthusiastic crowd packing the church. Gloria will also be performed in Bakersfield,
CA at Wesley United Methodist Church on May 21, 2006. Thanks again to
David Atkins for making this possible. David discovered
Andrew's music during Ebony & Ivory's 2005 tour of
California. Red Hot! Reviewed in American RagCam Miller, free-lance jazz journalist, has
reviewed Red Hot!, the Ebony & Ivory debut
CD in The American Rag. The American Rag is published
monthly and circulated to jazz and ragtime aficionados throughout
North America. Quotable quotes from the review: "...the recording reveals two musicians who
are willing to go for broke..." "...tasteful Gilpin-Jacobowitz
collaborations..." "Highlight of the album...is a three-part
Spanish Suite...the composition captures a gentle Latin samba
flavour in the first movement (Lírico), the essence of an
enchanting melody (Brisa) in the second section and the final
movement (¡Olé!) conjures up the vision of a Spanish
bull run. In sum, here's a disc in which you hear something new
each time you listen to it. Upcoming EventsJanuary 19 & 20, 2007 -
